1. Which of the possible venues do you think would best suit this play? Why do you believe the dramatic action would be best served in this venue?
I would prefer proscenium as it would allow for a more personal draw into the play while still allowing a good amount of people to watch it. I think the dramatic action would fit this well as the proposal scene would be seen by the audience in regards to proximity and the driving scene would be able to be played out well as the stage allows for a good amount of room in my opinion.
2. What are some of the design challenges posed by the play?
The transition of unrelated scenes would make it a bit difficult for this play to be mapped out on the stage and creating a vehicle would pose some design challenges itself.
3. Choose the various chorus characters and discuss how you see them dressed. In what ways do you think the costumes you describe would help articulate their purpose in this play?
I could see the dad dressed in dirty clothes and being overweight and also the waiter dressed in their common type of uniforms with a pen atop their ear. Also the rest of the characters I would dress relatively the same as to emphasize their similarity as not being key roles in the play while dressing up the main characters in flashy clothing as to clearly outline their relevance.
4. Provide some ideas about the use of light in the play?
I would emphasize a spotlight on the key characters and darken the rest of the stage. I would do this especially on the proposal part. However, in the car scenes I would lessen the brightness a tad bit.
5. Suggest music and sound effects that could help accentuate the mood or atmosphere of the play.
I would play a semi-romantic song while Lil'Bit and the Uncle are in the car as to accentuate the mood. I would also play sound effects on the ignition of the engine in the vehicle.
